The one we really, really don't talk about is Commandos: Strike Force. The first missions in Stalingrad and Berlin weren't bad, though. Timed missions are anathema in a game where half the fun is to spend hours looking at the screen learning the patrol patterns to devise a plan. It is very short (6 or 7 missions, IIRC), horribly consolized (no hotkeys!), and there are timed missions.

The entire game is dripping with atmosphere and despite how gamey it is (Six elite soldiers and only one knows how to throw grenades?) you really feel like you are in command of an elite group charged with saving the world from the Nazis. But still, when you are 14, the intro and the first mission's briefing are unspeakably cool. And everyone left at the third level because from then on the game got really hard (and there are 20 levels.). If you were a teenager in Spain in the late 90's like me you played it because everyone had it.

It is much longer and more difficult than the first two missions and the proper way to end the level is not obvious at all. I knew it! There is a huge difficulty spike at the third level (the one where you have to blow up a dam in Norway). I only finished the first two levels or so of that game.
